in December and pork prices rose 97% In December 2019, nationalconsumer prices rose 4.5% year-on-year. Of which, urban growth was 4.2% andrural growth was 5.3%; food prices rose 17.4%, and non-food prices rose 1.3%;prices of consumer goods rose 6.4%, and prices of services rose 1.2%.
In December, national consumer prices were flat month-on-month. Amongthem, cities were flat, and rural areas fell by 0.1%. Food prices fell0.4%, while non-food prices rose 0.1%; prices of consumer goods and serviceswere flat.
In 2019, national consumer prices rose by 2.9% year-on-year.
1. The prices of various goods and services changed year-on-year in
December. The prices of food, alcohol and tobacco rose by 12.9%year-on-year, and the impact on the consumer price index (CPI) was about 3.82percentage points. The prices of food, livestock and meat rose by 66.4%,which affected the CPI by 2.94 percentage points, of which the price of porkrose by 97.0%, which affected the CPI by 2.34 percentage points. Theincrease in the price of fresh vegetables by 10.8% has an impact on theconsumer price index of about 0.26 percentage points. The rise in eggprices by 6.2% has an impact on the consumer price index of about 0.04percentage points. The 1.3% increase in the price of aquatic products hasan impact on the consumer price index of about 0.02 percentage points. Therise in food prices by 0.6% has an impact on the consumer price index ofapproximately 0.01 percentage points. The price of fresh fruits fell by8.0%, and the impact on the consumer price index was about 0.15 percentagepoints.
Prices in the other seven major categories rose 6% year-on-year and fell1%. Among them, the prices of other supplies and services, medical care,education, culture and entertainment increased by 4.4%, 2.1% and 1.8%respectively, and the prices of clothing, housing, daily necessities and servicesincreased by 0.8%, 0.5% and 0.4% respectively. Transport andcommunications prices fell by 0.7%.

In terms of food, the price of eggs droppedby 4.7%, which affected the consumer price index by about 0.03 percentagepoints. The price of animal meat fell by 3.8%, which affected the consumerprice index by about 0.28 percentage points, of which the price of pork fell by5.6%, which affected the consumer price index by about 0.27 percentagepoints. The increase in the price of fresh vegetables by 10.6% has animpact on the consumer price index of about 0.25 percentage points. Theprice of fresh fruits rose by 0.6%, which affected the growth of the consumerprice index by about 0.01 percentage point.
Prices in the other seven major categories have quadrupled, remained flat andtripled from the previous period. Among them, the prices oftransportation, communications and medical services all increased by 0.2%, andthe prices of residents' daily necessities and services increased by0.1%. The prices for education, culture and entertainment are thesame. The prices of clothing, other supplies and services all fell by0.1%.
